Second prize in Mezzano Art competition

Managed to get a second prize yesterday, in a competition which I found very enjoyable. I had 8 hours to complete a piece of work that represented Mezzano (near Ravenna). So I was out in the square with my easel and paints with the clock ticking. Was good to have that kind of deadline not to much time to stand back and think a lot more instinctive. Chose the Church as it was the  in the centre and there was a lot of movement people cars etc, my kind of thing.

The Photo of the painting isn't too good as I had to use a little Pentax instamatic with flash (My Nikon is broken!)

Winner of the Longastrino art competition

The Longastrino art competition's subject was the delta Del Po (river) it's traditions and people. So I chose to do the Cervia Salt farm. An evening with movement and rich colours.

New Editorial portfolio. Digital images

Just created a new, editorial only, portfolio with the AOI at: Rupert_van_wyk. I needed a place to put the digital images i've illustrated over the past two years and they didn't mix so well with the kids stuff so this was the best option.

Selected: Serco Prize for Illustration 2012

My work is one of the top 50 selected for the London Transport Museum “Serco Prize” and will be displayed in The Transport museum exhibition from the 13th November - 10th December later this year.

The subject was Secret London, so the MI6 building seemed an apt subject with everyday traffic passing by oblivious to the secretive world that is contained within it's walls.
